IWI SUPPORTED PROJECTS
The Indigenous Watersheds Initiative funded 49 Indigenous-led projects dedicated to the stewardship and restoration of local watersheds across ‘British Columbia’. The projects that received funding were found in communities across the province, spanning the Mackenzie, Fraser, Columbia, North Coast, South Coast, Nass, Skeena, Stikine, Taku, and Yukon watershed basins.
IWI projects encompassed a wide range of focus areas and themes, including:
Indigenous Knowledge and Land-based Learning
Watershed Planning and Governance
Fisheries and Food Sovereignty
Watershed Restoration and Protection
Watershed Monitoring and Assessment.
