Yaq̓it ʔa·knuqⱡi ‘it Wetland Restoration

The Yaq̓ it ʔa·knuqⱡi ‘it Wetland Restoration project is restoring wetlands on Yaq̓ it ʔa·knuqⱡi ‘it Reserve, and rebuilding important habitat for species at risk. These species include the western painted turtle (Chrysemys picta bellii), and culturally important wildlife, including ungulates. The project will create 10 wetlands on reserve in an area called “Soup Ponds” and restoring Turtle Lake and two potholes. Invasive plant management, revegetation, monitoring (water levels, erosion, wildlife, invasive plants, revegetation), and education/outreach is also part of this project.
